Man charged with murder of Sheffield man six months ago

A man has been charged with the brutal murder of a Sheffield man, whose body was found in field close to his home more than six months ago.

Simon Holdsworth was never seen again after getting off a bus close to the Hogs Head pub in Hackenthorpe, just a few hundred yards from his home, after working late on December 16, .

His body was discovered is a field off Birley Spa Lane, at about 6.30am on December 17.

Mr Holdsworth had been working extra hours to buy Christmas presents for his fiancée and step-son.

Detectives tonight charged a 45-year-old man with his murder.

Shaun Richard Wainwright, of Dagnam Road, Sheffield, is due to appear before Sheffield magistrates in morning.
