Man in court charged with murdering his nine year-old brother

A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his younger brother in Bradford.

Daniel Taylor appeared at Bradford Crown Court accused of the murder of nine-year-old Jack Taylor, who was stabbed at a house on Rookes Avenue, Bradford, last Thursday.

Taylor, of Richardson Avenue, Bradford, is also charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after his 18-year-old sister Rachel was injured in the attack.

She was taken to hospital but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Her brother Jack was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary but died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Recorder of Bradford Judge James Stewart QC remanded Taylor in custody until June 11 when a plea and case management hearing will take place.

Taylor, wearing a baggy black jumper and blue trousers, sat with his arms folded during the brief hearing.

Several members of the family attended today's hearing, including Taylor's mother and father.

At the end of the hearing, a teenage girl said goodbye to the defendant and waved.
