Man dies after assault in Sheffield

A MAN, aged 42, has died in hospital this morning after an incident in Sheffield city centre last night.

Detectives said a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which happened at around 11.50pm last night.

Officers from South Yorkshire were called to reports of an assault at the junction of West Street and Eldon Street.

The arrested man is currently in police custody, a spokesman for the force said.
