Man dies and two seriously injured as car hits tree

A man died and two others were seriously injured when a car lost control and crashed into a tree in Routh on Sunday morning.

A 20-year-old man from Hull who was travelling in the front passenger seat of a blue Audi A3 died wen the driver lost control on a bend on Meaux Lane , anout two miles from Tickton, shortly before 1.30am.

Two other men inside the car were seriously injured; a 25-year-old and a 20-year-old, both from Hull. Neither man’s injuries are thought to be life threatening and both were treated at Hull Royal Infirmary.

The 25-year-old man was released from hospital and arrested for death by dangerous driving. He has been released on police bail until the end of October.

The other occupant of the vehicle has also been arrested for death by dangerous driving remains in hospital at this time.

A report was made in the early hours of the same morning reporting damage to two cars which were parked near the Wawne Ferry Pub, Wawne Road, Bransholme. It is believed the two vehicles (a bronze coloured Volvo V40 and a black Vauxhall Zafira) have been driven into and are possibly linked to the collision on Meaux Lane.

Officers investigating the fatal traffic collision and the fail to stop damage are appealing for any potential witnesses to come forward.
