Man dies in motorway collision between Allerton Park and Boroughbridge

A man died following a collision on the A1 motorway on Friday night (December 4).

The collision happened on the north-bound carriageway at around 8pm between junction 47 at Allerton Park and junction 48 at Boroughbridge.

It involved a black BMW car and a white lorry.

The driver of the BMW, a man aged in his forties from North Wales, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Police are appealing to anyone who was travelling in either direction on the A1 and saw the vehicles prior to the crash or witnessed the collision itself, to contact them.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Team or email [email protected]

The road was closed to allow emergency service to deal with the collision and for police to examine the scene. It reopened at around 3.40am.
