A MAN was last night fighting for his life in hospital after being seriously hurt in a Christmas Day assault outside his Yorkshire home.

Detectives said the man, aged 64, was found with head injuries outside flats in Spring Row, Keighley, at 6.20pm on December 25. He was last night in a critical condition in Leeds General Infirmary.

Officers issued an appeal for information over disorder involving a group of people in the area at about 6pm.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Morgan said: “It is believed the victim may well have been in his home and has stepped outside to deal with a nuisance when he has been seriously assaulted and left until found by a passer-by who contacted the emergency services.”

He added: “I would ask anyone in the Spring Row area of Keighley around 6pm to contact us if they saw a group of people behaving suspiciously, perhaps being loud or shouting or throwing stones at a window, or in any other manner which would have attracted attention.”
