Around 20 people called the police after they issued CCTV footage showing a man on a bike.

Humberside Police said they couldn’t “evidentially” link Mrs Roddis’ death with the bag snatch, but believe the stress and upset may have led to her health deteriorate.

She cut her holiday short in the resort and returned home to Sheffield after losing £300 in cash and her mobile phone on January 26. She died on January 30 of a brain haemorrhage.

A police spokeswoman: “Thank you everybody who contacted the police yesterday with information. It is truly appreciated.”
