Man injured in waterfall plunge

A MAN was seriously injured when he fell on to rocks near a waterfall at Ingleton on Sunday afternoon.

He is thought to have fallen about 45ft (14m) in the incident at Beezley Falls.

It is understood that the man, who is thought to be in his fifties, hit rocks as he fell.

The Cave Rescue Organisation and fire crews were called to the incident which happened at around 4pm.

The victim was initially treated in the water and placed on a stretcher, then moved to a rock ledge for further treatment before being taken to hospital by an RAF helicopter.

Cave Rescue personnel and RAF Sea King helicopter left the incident at 7pm. The victim is understood to have received serious fractures.

Fire crews from Richmond, Ripon, Kirkby Lonsdale, Bentham and Kendal attended the incident.
