Man jailed for raping woman in churchyard

A RAPIST has been jailed for four years and eight months after attacking an 18-year-old woman in a churchyard in Doncaster.

Sheffield Crown Court heard that Aiden Boylin, 18, of Avenue Road, Wath, had offered to walk the woman home in the early hours of Saturday, November 9 last year after a night out.

But he then raped her in a churchyard on Chequer Road, Doncaster. The victim told her family what had happened and reported it to police, who located and arrested Boylin the same day.

He was charged and remanded into custody on Sunday, November 10, and admitted the offence at his first court hearing at the end of that month.

Det Con Stephen Cartlidge said: “The victim has shown tremendous strength and courage throughout this investigation and I hope that this sentence brings her some closure after what has been a very traumatic few months.

“South Yorkshire Police takes allegations of rape very seriously and will investigate any report of rape or sexual assault thoroughly. We would encourage any victim of sexual assault to report the incident to us.”
