Man on murder charge after wife dies in ambulance

A MAN was remanded in custody today charged with murdering his wife who died in an ambulance after an alleged attack.

David Ault, 68, appeared before Beverley magistrates in East Yorkshire charged with murdering Jill Ault, 63, Humberside Police said.

She died in an ambulance as she was taken from her home in Waterway Garth, Pollington, near Goole, East Yorkshire, to Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, at about 10.20am on Friday.

Police had been called to her address at about 9am following reports of an assault.

Humberside Police said Ault was charged with her murder after questioning and is due to appear at Hull Crown Court tomorrow.
