Man quizzed after stabbing leaves victim seriously ill

A MAN was being questioned yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing left another man seriously ill in hospital, police said.

The victim, a 29-year-old Latvian man, suffered a stab wound to the chest in the attack in Manningham, Bradford, on Saturday afternoon.

A 35-year-old suspect, also Latvian, has been arrested, West Yorkshire Police said.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident, which happened at about 2.30pm in park land known as Infirmary Fields at the junction of Lumb Lane and White Abbey Road in Manningham, Bradford.

The victim is being treated in Bradford Royal Infirmary and is described as being in a critical condition in intensive care.

Det Supt Steve Payne, who is leading the investigation, said: "This incident took place at a busy time of the afternoon in Bradford and we believe a number of people may have been nearby and witnessed either the attack, or have seen someone running from the scene."
