Man rescued from river

A MAN was treated for exposure after plunging into the river Hull late on Sunday night.

The 23-year-old was rescued by firefighters and the inshore lifeboat after going into the river off Drypool Bridge, on Alfred Gelder Street in the city. He was thrown a lifeline after being carried down river to the Myton Bridge.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the 20-minute drama, which began around 10.25pm.

The RAF search and rescue helicopter, Humberside Police and a coastguard team also attended the incident.
