On February 12 Morgan attacked his then partner, delivering brutal blows and kicks to her body and stamping on her head, which left her motionless and unconscious on her driveway.

Part of the attack also took place whilst Morgan was holding the victim’s four-year-old daughter under his arm.

When a neighbour intervened to challenge him, Morgan turned on the 66-year-old woman and in a violent rage, where he smashed his way into her house, screaming and stabbing her repeatedly with two knives.

Morgan pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.

Jeremy Evans from the CPS said: “This was a sustained and brutal attack on two completely defenceless women, which left them both with extremely serious injuries. Both were lucky to escape with their lives.

“His first victim suffered traumatic brain injuries and although thankfully, she is slowly recovering, she is still suffering life-altering side effects. The second victim suffered stab wounds and lacerations to the face, head and neck as well as psychological repercussions as a result of the trauma.

“Morgan’s crimes were brutal and violent. The court heard that he is a man who has a history for using intimidation, harassment and violence against his ex-partners.

“The extended sentence he is beginning today reflects the level of dangerousness he presents to the public. I hope this is of some comfort to both his victims, as they continue to recover, physically and emotionally from this appalling crime.”
