“The victim was seriously injured and although his injuries are thankfully not life threatening, the incident could easily have had more serious consequences."

A 48-year-old man had been with two friends in the nearby park when they were approached by a group of youths, police said.

The victim was punched and stabbed in the back, they added.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
