Man who walked out of prison jailed

A thug who was jailed for a street attack on two women has been sentenced to an extra eight months after he “walked out” of an open prison.

Adrian Feather was sent to prison for six-and-half years in August 2011 after causing a catalogue of injuries to one victim and felling the other with a punch in an attack in Keighley.

In June Feather, 25, walked out of Kirkham Prison and was at large for about three months before he was re-arrested.

Yesterday at Bradford Crown Court he was given a consecutive eight-month prison sentence after he admitted the escape charge and making threats to commit criminal damage during a telephone call made the day after he left the prison. Judge Colin Burn said it was clear that Feather had walked out following the suspension of the home visits scheme. The court heard in August 2011 how Feather punched, kicked and stamped on the couple.
