A NEW music and entertainment venue has been launched at the Sunday market at Catterick Racecourse.

Bands and entertainers of all descriptions are being booked to entertain visitors in the circus-style Big Top which is now a permanent fixture at the market held at Catterick Bridge.

The Big Top, which has a capacity of 400, is fully heated and has its own bar – the Sneaky Pint, a converted hoop-la stall selling Yorkshire beer and German lager.

Every Sunday bands will perform in the Big Top from noon, providing not only entertainment but also a warm refuge from any bad weather.

The first act to perform in the 2010 programme will be local band the Blind Boys of Richmond who will be playing blues and rock ’n’ roll this Sunday. My Lost Youth, a young band playing emo rock, will perform on January 17, Steve Wade will play an acoustic set on January 24 and Get Educated will perform their inimitable style of rock on January 31.

Information about the Big Top or the contact point for anyone who would like to be considered to play at the venue is by e-mail to bands@cattericksundaymarket. co.uk or by phoning 01748 812127.
