Mass brawl erupts as children play nearby

A MASS brawl erupted in the car park of a North Yorkshire pub with thugs hurling pint glasses and wielding a baseball bat while children played nearby.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police were called to the Harrow pub ion Knaresborough Road in Harrogate at 5.35pm on Saturday following reports of shouting and arguing among a group of about 15 men and women in the rear car park.

DC Kirsten Aldridge, of Harrogate CID, said: "This appears to have been a particularly unsavoury and violent incident which simply has no place in a residential area with children playing nearby.

"As part of the investigation, I am appealing for witnesses to the disturbance or anyone who can help identify those involved to come forward as soon as possible.

"Even the smallest piece of information could prove very useful."

A 20-year-old man and a woman aged 35, both from Harrogate, have been arrested. They have been released on bail while police inquiries continue.
