A matter of time

ESIO Trot the tortoise, seen with her owner Maria Conway, will be among the animals on show at an event in a Yorkshire forest this weekend with the theme of the passing of time.

The four-year-old reptile, named after the Roald Dahl book that spelt “tortoise” backwards, will be at the fifth Dalbyology event hosted by the Forestry Commission in Dalby Forest, near Pickering, on Sunday.

Esio Trot could live for more than 100 years – longer than his Scarborough owner and in stark contrast to her other pets like stick insects, which survive for just six months.
