May 29: Bowled over by Michael Vaughan enunciation on TMS

Have your say

From: Norman Mellor, Huddersfield.

I AGREE with Brian Sheridan (The Yorkshire Post, May 25) on Ed Miliband missing out on the letter ‘T’ but, there is one man who drives me to distraction for missing out this letter, that is Michael Vaughan in his cricket commentaries. I think his input and insight are first class but his enunciation is very poor.

From: ME Wright, Harrogate.

BRIAN Sheridan’s comments remind us that speaking clearly is not the same as “talking posh”. We can usually blame linguistic horrors on America, but not the aversion to sounding the letter “T”. Is there a small crumb of comfort in accepting that “compu’er”, “be’er” etc might save the apostrophe from extinction?
