Fifty youngsters, aged between 13 and 19, will cross Morecambe Bay to raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which is supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Bradford hospice.

They will meet Coun Ikram, at City Hall on Wednesday, August 24 at 12.30pm.

The youngsters, with support from Bradford Council’s Youth Service, will undertake the walk of between seven and eight miles on Saturday, September 10.

Their route will take them around three to four hours and, while the terrain is mostly flat, they will have to clamber over low rocks before heading out on to the sands

Coun Ikram, said: “It is brilliant that these young people are prepared to go out of their way to make such an effort to raise funds for my charity appeal. I would encourage as many people as possible to sponsor the group on their Morecambe Bay crossing.”
