Medal fails to find buyer

A MILITARY CROSS received by a former soldier from the Queen for risking his life in a firefight in Iraq failed to find a buyer at auction yesterday.

Ryan Copping, 25, from Folkestone, Kent, formerly of 1st Battalion, the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment, had hoped to receive between 18,000 and 22,000 from the sale to help secure the future of his five-year-old daughter, Faith.

But interest was limited at the sale, conducted by London-based coins and medals specialists Morton & Eden at Sotheby's in central London.
