Meet the fisher family

A KINGFISHER family has been delighting visitors to RSPB Fairburn Ings, near Castleford, for the last few days, allowing close-up views of them flying, fishing and carrying nesting material.

They are pictured as some kingfisher chicks were lined up to learn essential survival skills from their parents at the nature reserve.

In the last couple of days visitors have been experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the birds.

Laura Bentley, from RSPB Fairburn Ings, said yesterday: “Most people would be lucky to see one kingfisher in their lifetime, let alone five all together.”
