Meeting to debate NHS changes

A DEBATE on planned changes to the NHS will be held in Hull next month.

The campaign group 38 Degrees is hosting the event at the Goodwin Centre, in Ice House Road, on Saturday, April 9, from 10am to noon.

The main speaker will be consultant oncologist and BMA Council member Dr Clive Peedell, who will be joined by former nurse Gill Poole from Beverley.

Hull MPs Karl Turner and Diana Johnson will be attending.

The meeting follows a similar event held in Beverley.

Organiser George McManus said: “I am arranging the forum in Hull following the overwhelming success of the event in Beverley where nearly 100 people came together to express their concerns and fears for the future of health care in England. I am delighted that such a senior consultant as Clive has agreed to join us for the event.”

He added: “38 Degrees is a cross-party and non-party campaign which seeks to raise awareness on vital issues and has been credited for prompting the Government’s recent U-turn on plans for the Forestry Commission.

“All members of the public are welcome.”
