Meeting inspires drive to create park skating zone

Talks are now taking place after the need for skating facilities within the Illingworth area was raised at a local ward forum meeting attended by local councillors, officers from Calderdale Council and local residents, including young people.

The authority has started consulting residents on the proposal this week and will be handing out questionnaires to local residents, shops and community groups.

Mark Brazil, area manager for North and East Halifax said: "Having listened to local young people across north Halifax, we have been looking at potential sites which would benefit from the introduction of a skate zone and feel that Beechwood park would be ideally suited."
