FORMER Brabazon Trophy winner Jamie Bower is heading into the new EuroPro Tour season with confidence that his game is close to being back to its best.

The Meltham man switched coaches in the winter and also management companies, and the ex-Yorkshire champion has high hopes of winning on the third tier of European tournament golf.

So much so that he is promising would-be investors that he will give them one per cent of his winnings for every £100 staked.

It means if he accumulates a minimum of £10,000 in season's earnings, and each tournament carries a £10,000 first prize, they would be guaranteed to get their money back.

Should he surpass £20,000 in winnings - a figure that equated to fifth place on the end-of-season standings in 2018 - they would get double back what they put down.

As well as representing England at all levels during his amateur career Bower also won the Southern Cape Amateur and Gauteng Open in 2015 while touring South Africa with the national squad.

His first two seasons as a professional did not go as well as he hoped as he made the adjustment to tour life, but since working with Meltham club professional Simon Race he feels his game is back around the standard that saw him rise to No 12 in the world amateur ranks.

Bower, now under the management of Underpin Sports, placed in the top five in both 1836 Tour events in the past week at Rotherham and Worksop.

He said: " It’s not a question of whether I’m capable of winning on the tour, I know I’m capable of winning at that level. It’s just a question of recapturing my best form and I feel I am very close to doing that.

"I’m really fired up going into the season because I’m really happy with where my game's at."

He missed out on his full EuroPro Tour card by one shot at Q School, but is hopeful of gaining entry into the opening event - the IFX Payments Championship at Brocket Hall from May 22-24 - and is planning to play all 15 events on the tour calendar.

Each tournament week will cost him, he estimates, around £800, which is why he is looking for financial support as he sets out on a route that he envisages will ultimately take him up to the Challenge Tour and then on to the European Tour.

Anyone interested in backing him, either individuals or businesses, can contact him on 07796 013 482 or by emailing him, [email protected] by May 21.

Underpin Sports have generously waived any claim on the sponsorship fees so that 100 per cent of the donations go towards his tournament costs.
