Memorial unveiled to work of Army medics

RELATIVES of the victims of an IRA coach bombing returned to near the location of the atrocity yesterday to unveil a memorial dedicated to the work of Army medics.

The Army Medical Services memorial was officially opened yesterday at Hartshead Moor services on the M62, near Bradford, when the monument was dedicated by the Bishop of Beverley, Glyn Webster.

The site is already home to a tribute to nine soldiers and three civilians who died in an IRA coach bombing in 1974. Among those who were at the service was Maureen Norton, above, the sister of Terence Griffin, from Bolton, who died in the blast aged just 24. The latest memorial was designed and commissioned by the charity Life for a Life Memorial Forests, and will include a small woodland. picture: simon hulme.
