Men charged with murder of flat victim

FOUR men are due to appear in court today after being charged by detectives who launched a murder inquiry following the death of a man in a flat in Scarborough.

Two of the defendants, aged 29 and 34, have been charged with murder after the death of Jonathan Binns, 41, on Wednesday last week. They have also been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery.

The two other men, both aged 30, have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. One of the men also faces a charge of assisting an offender. All four men have been remanded in police custody and will appear at Scarborough Magistrates’ Court today.

Det Supt Dai Malyn, who is leading the inquiry, thanked the public for their “patience and understanding” while forensic examinations were carried out over the weekend.

The murder inquiry was launched after Mr Binns was found fatally injured in the flat on Eastborough.
