Ed Miliband faced questions on cuts to the forces during a visit to mark Armed Forces Day yesterday.
The Labour leader took part in a question and answer session with veterans and members of the community during the visit to the Royal Naval Association in Lincoln.
He was joined by Shadow Culture Minister and former British Army officer Dan Jarvis, who served for 15 years before being elected as MP for Barnsley.
Mr Miliband also faced questions on benefits and support services for soldiers and veterans.
He was also questioned on the situation at Barclays, to which he said there needed to be an inquiry into the practices within the banking industry.
Mr Miliband said that supporting the armed forces and giving them the respect they deserve was something he was passionate about. It was important all parties practised what they preached in relation to issues such as employment for veterans after they had left the armed forces.
