Millers' tale of joy as new stadium wins approval

ROTHERHAM United have been given planning permission to build a new 12,000-seater stadium on the old Guest and Chrimes foundry site in the town centre.

The ground is set to open in time for the 2012/13 football season and will mean a return to the Millers' home town, after a temporary move to Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium.

Club chairman Tony Stewart said: "We are delighted that the council have supported the application, for what is a significant regeneration scheme in central Rotherham.

"This represents another significant step towards our goal of bringing the Millers back home to Rotherham."

He added: "We're all determined to make Rotherham United a football club that everyone in the town can not only be proud of but will feel a part of too."
