DRINKERS WITH a thirst for knowledge will be given the chance to explore the wonders of modern science over a pint.
Pondering Newton’s laws of motion while supping a cold beer might seem an unlikely combination, but the University of York is hoping to spawn a new type of bar banter during its Pint of Science festival.
Academics are swapping the laboratory for the public house between May 19 and 21 to whet revellers’ appetite on subjects such as archaeology, biology and the environment.
The university’s Organiser Katherine Leech said: “The idea is simple – down-to-earth talks about science in the relaxed atmosphere of a pub.”
