Minister to visit schools heart project

HEALTH Minister Simon Burns will visit a Hull school today to watch pupils take part in circuit training and other activities aimed at encouraging them to develop healthy hearts.

Mr Burns will be at Sirius Academy to see the work being done as part of the British Heart Foundation’s Hearty Lives Hull Schools project.

The Minister will also be invited to contribute to the touring Hearty Lives Hull art display, which asks people to share their photographs and thoughts on “What does your heart mean to you?”

He will also be shown the plans for the school’s development under the Building Schools for the Future programme.

The health scheme is a partnership between the BHF, Hull Council and NHS Hull, and offers a range of fun, community-based activities to help people be more active and enjoy healthier lifestyles.

Coun Rilba Jones, the council’s portfolio holder for health, said: “This is an excellent chance to showcase the fantastic Hearty Lives Hull partnership work taking part in the city to help people get more active and enjoy a healthier lifestyle to improve the health of residents in the area.”
