Minster carol concert date for Palin

MONTY Python star Michael Palin will be one of the guest readers at York Minster's Christmas carol concert.

The Sheffield-born actor and presenter will be joined by Honeysuckle Weeks, who has starred in the hugely popular ITV series, Foyle's War, for the annual concert in the cathedral.

The festive event will be staged on Friday, December 10, and staff at York Minster have urged anyone wishing to attend to book tickets early as there is traditionally a big demand for places.

All proceeds from the concert will go towards the York Minster Fund, which is helping pay for the multi-million pound restoration of the cathedral's East Front and is backed by the Yorkshire Post.

Tickets priced between 10 and 20 are now on sale from the Minister box office, which is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 4.30pm. They can also be purchased over the telephone by calling 0844 939 0015 or online at www.boxoffice.yorkminister.org
