Minster stage for Sir Alan honour
Playwright Sir Alan Ayckbourn received an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters at a ceremony at York Minster yesterday.
He is one of a series of leading figures to be honoured by York St John University this week.
The chief executive of Marks & Spencer, Marc Bolland, received an honorary degree of Doctor of Business Administration on Wednesday and fundraiser Mike Tomlinson is set to receive the honorary degree of Doctor of Health Sciences today. Meanwhile, opera singer Lesley Garrett and author Michael Morpurgo were also awarded honorary degrees at Sheffield Hallam University on Wednesday.
