Misbehaving football fans wanted over sexist songs on train to Halifax

Among the group of 10-12 Wrexham football supporters was one individual who climbed into the overhead luggage rack and another who threw his shoes around the carriage, only narrowly missing other passengers.

British Transport Police said it was investigating the incidents after a female passenger reported being “offended” and “disgusted” by the group’s behaviour on the journey between Hebden Bridge and Halifax on Saturday, 28 December 2015 at around 1.15pm.

The 33-year-old woman from Halifax boarded the train at Hebden Bridge and sat in the rear carriage where she witnessed the group’s behaviour.

PC Jo Kellert said: “This was completely unacceptable behaviour from the group, which must have been uncomfortable and offensive for the woman who reported this incident to us, and other passengers in the carriage.

“We are committed to stamping out football-related anti-social behaviour on the rail network and are doing all we can to identify the individuals concerned. If you were on the service and witnessed the incident, please come forward and contact us as you may have information with could help us to do this.”
