Missing man found with gun injuries in wood

Police were called to Hagg Wood, just off Woodhead Road near Thongsbridge, at 12.30pm Sunday after concerns were raised for the welfare of a 28-year-old man from Elton Close, in Whitefield, near Bury, Greater Manchester, who had failed to return home.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment to gunshot injuries which are not considered to be life-threatening. It is believed he is under armed guard.

Forenic specialists have been at the scene gathering evidence.

Officers with Greater Manchester Police are leading the investigation.
