In the Mood for a 1940s wedding

IT WAS the era of swing and Glenn Miller – and this weekend one Leeds couple had a wedding with a 1940s theme.

The bride, Sharon Lynn, 40, wore a vintage 1940s dress, and was driven to the service at Leeds Town Hall by her father-in-law to be, John Wood, in his Willys military Jeep.

After the ceremony the bride and her new husband, Iain Wood, 38, of Seacroft, Leeds, enjoyed a reception with a 1940s theme. Guests could also dress up in 1940s outfits if they wished.

Speaking before the wedding Mr Wood said: "People seem to have taken on the 1940s spirit and lots of people have been helping out."

The couple bonded through their love of dancing and 1940s music.

At the reception at TJ's Woodhouse Club, guests danced to the sounds of the Forties and friends and family made sandwiches and cakes for guests.

Mr Wood said: "Everybody has pulled together to make it such a special day and that's how it would have been in the 1940s."
