Moors murderer Brady readmitted to hospital

The 76-year-old child killer was treated earlier this week following an incident at high-security Ashworth Hospital in Merseyside, where he is a patient.

It was reported that he was taken to Aintree University Hospital again yesterday under police guard.

He returned to his ward at Ashworth on Tuesday but was transferred again yesterday.

A spokeswoman for Ashworth Hospital said: “ Ian Brady, aged 76, was readmitted to a general hospital this morning.

“He had previously spent 36 hours in the general hospital this week on Tuesday and Wednesday for treatment for two broken bones sustained following a fall.

“The admission this morning will involve a review of his condition and any further treatment,” she added.

Brady, who murdered five children in the 1960s with his lover Myra Hindley, was jailed for life in 1966.

Last year he lost his battle to be released from Ashworth on the grounds that he was no longer insane at a mental health tribunal.
