This Morning doctor in clear as accident charges dropped

Television doctor Chris Steele will not face legal action over claims he drove away from the scene of a road accident, the Crown Prosecution Service has said.

The resident medic on ITV1's This Morning was accused of a number of driving offences following an incident in Burnage, Greater Manchester, in July.

Dr Steele, 65, from Didsbury, had strongly denied the charges which have now been dropped by prosecutors.

He had faced trial next year before Manchester magistrates over allegations of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident and driving without due care and attention.

Dr Steele told reporters the proceedings had been a "real worry" and he was "relieved" the matter was closed.
