Mother cleared of'home alone' charge

A mother of two accused of leaving her children "home alone" while she went to Hong Kong for a week has been cleared by a jury following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

The prosecution had alleged that the mother had left the boy, 15, and girl, 10, to fend for themselves at their Halifax home in September 2008. But the mother denied two charges of wilfully abandoning the children and told the court she had made arrangements for a friend to look after them while she was away.
