Mother found dead in car boot ‘loving person’

THE SON of a woman whose body was found hidden in her own car in South Yorkshire has described her as a “loving and fun person.”

Joy Billam’s body was found in the boot of her purple Ford Fiesta Fusion in Doncaster Road, Goldthorpe, last weekend.

Her husband Raymond Vernon Billam, 63, has been charged with her murder and is on remand, pending an appearance at Sheffield Crown Court next week. A 16-year-old boy has been charged with helping him to hide the body of 46-year-old Mrs Billam, who died from strangulation.

Mrs Billam’s son Tony said yesterday: “Me and my brother Lee are totally devastated after losing our mum Joy in the way we did. She meant the world to us and we will never be the same again.

“She was a loving and fun person to be with and a great Nanna to her three grandchildren whom she adored. Our lives will never be the same again, we love and miss her very much.”

It is understood the victim and Billam, of Guildford Road in Wheatley Park, Doncaster, were in the process of getting divorced.

Mrs Billam moved to Goldthorpe with her new partner two or three months before she was killed on Friday, September 30.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw the purple Fiesta parked in Doncaster Road after 7pm that night to call the incident room on 01709 443541.
