Mother of missing soldier optimistic

The mother of a British soldier who disappeared while on holiday with his girlfriend in Tenerife still hopes he will be found alive.

Matthew Jackson, 18, vanished after a night out on the island at about 2am on December 18 and has not been heard of since.

His mother, Lyn Jackson, 49, from Crawley, West Sussex, said it was possible he slipped over, banged his head and fell in the sea. “We are all hoping he is still out there somewhere.”
