Motorbike rider airlifted to hospital after North Yorkshire crash

A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries after his bike collided with a car near Whitby.

The 34-year-old rider, who is from Hartlepool, sustained back and chest injuries and was airlifted to hospital after his Suzuki bike hit a grey Mercedes CL Class car on the A171 between Egton and Aislaby on Sunday at around 4pm.

The vehicles were both travelling towards Guisborough when the incident happened. Following the crash, the road was blocked for several hours.

The motorcyclist’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and the Mercedes driver, a 38-year-old man from Stockton, was uninjured.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to call 101, quoting log 12160126877, or email [email protected].
