A motorcyclist has died at the scene of a collision with a campervan in the Yorkshire Dales.

North Yorkshire Police said a 57-year-old man from the Wetherby area died after his red Honda VFR was involved in a crash with a white Fiat Ducato E495 campervan.

The motorbike was being ridden along the B6255 from Hawes in the direction of Ribblehead Viaduct at Far Gearstone, Carnforth, when the collision occurred shortly after 3.30pm on Saturday (September 1).

The man was in the company of another motorcyclist who was riding a black motorbike.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or has dashcam footage of the collision, to contact them.

The force has also appealed for anyone who saw the two motorcycles or the campervan prior to the incident to contact the Major Collision Investigation Team on 01609 643185 quoting reference number 12180163809.

Police said they were not yet in a position to release the identity of the man who died.
