Police constable James Farrar, of the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit, said: “I would urge anyone who witnessed this collision to call the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit on 101 asking for myself as investigating officer.”

Motorists were caught in tailbacks after the incident, which caused severe delays on the roads.

The roads closures that were originally put in place were lifted at 11.20am.
