Move to stage ice-hit Snow Queen

A Theatre company are trying for a second time to stage a production of The Snow Queen in an East Yorkshire town – after being frozen out last time.

The family show was due to be staged at the Junction arts centre in Goole at the start of the year but had to be cancelled in January after the snow stopped the theatre company from travelling.

But the company, Cornelius & Jones, is now visiting Goole as part of a national tour.

Junction's marketing officer Chris Williams said: "We can have a good laugh about the irony of The Snow Queen being defeated by snow, but at the time it was very disappointing and frustrating. However, it turned out that the company would still be touring the work in May, and we were keen to get them booked in.

"We felt it would be a shame to miss out on such a fantastic show."

Adapted from the story by Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Queen is a musical play taking place in a fairy tale world full of magical beings.

The production which involves puppets, masks and intricate set design will be staged at Junction at 2pm, on Saturday May 15. Tickets cost 4.
