MP accuses Gove of free school snub

A YORKSHIRE MP has accused Education Secretary Michael Gove of performing a U-turn by refusing to meet him to discuss a scandal hit free school facing allegations of fraud.

Bradford East MP David Ward said he had agreed to meet Mr Gove to ask questions about the Government’s handling of the Kings Science Academy in Bradford. However the Liberal Democrat backbencher said that Mr Gove’s office was now denying that a meeting had been set up.

The school has been in the spotlight since the Department for Education published a report saying someone at the school had admitted fabricated invoices had been submitted to the DfE.

A DfE spokeswoman said no meeting had been arranged between Mr Ward and Mr Gove. She declined to comment further as the school is now subject to a police investigation.
