MP welcomes work on bottleneck

Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin recently announced £2.4m in funding for major improvements to Rodley roundabout.

The £3.5m project will involve a full set of signals for the roundabout, which stands at the junction of the A6120 outer ring road and the A657 Rodley Lane and is used by 44,000 vehicles per day.

Pedestrian and cycle crossing facilities will also be provided on all four of its approaches.

Local MP Stuart Andrew, who represents Pudsey, has welcomed the scheme and said he hopes the improvements will ease delays for motorists.

He said: “The A657/A6120 Rodley Roundabout is notorious. There have been many complaints about how heavily congested it is during peak times with long queues of traffic waiting to get across the roundabout. I am very pleased that the Government is helping with these improvements.”

Work on the Leeds City Council-led project at the roundabout in west Leeds is due to start next summer.
