Mr Loophole's daughter left to her fate

A lawyer known as Mr Loophole for helping celebrity clients to evade driving bans has refused to help his own daughter fight a speeding ticket.

Nick Freeman said he wanted Sophie, 19, to learn her lesson from the punishment.

Mr Freeman, who lives in Cheshire, said he could have found a way to defeat the fine, but decided the punishment would help to teach her to drive safely. She was doing 63mph in a 50mph zone and faces a 60 fine.

In his column for the Manchester Evening News, Mr Freeman said: “Mr Loophole the lawyer was in conflict with Mr Loophole the dad.

“Every fibre of my parental instinct told me that Sophie had to understand the consequences of breaking the law and that speeding can be a serious and dangerous issue. I’m a hypocrite. I know.”

Mr Freeman helped a string of celebrity clients to avoid driving bans, including Jeremy Clarkson and David Beckham, by finding unusual technical defences for their speeding.
