To kickstart the campaign, M&S is offering free loft or cavity wall insulation to all its employees. It said this could lead to an annual saving of around 13,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, the equivalent of taking more than 4,000 cards off the roads for a year.

Richard Gillies, director of M&S’s Plan A environmental scheme, said: “We hope to create 30,000 green M&S ambassadors by offering this energy efficient solution free of charge to our employees.”
