Mummy’s in heaven said toddler

THE three-year-old son of a dead police detective told her friends and family that ‘mummy is in heaven’ as they gathered at her funeral. Canon Glyn Webster told the congregation at Heather Cooper’s funeral in York Minster how he heard her son, Joshua, say the words.

Canon Webster, the Minster’s Chancellor, told mourners about the remark and said: ‘That is our confidence. That is our certainty. Thank you, Joshua, you’ve preached the best sermon.’ The body of Detective Constable Cooper, inset, was found last month in woods in West Sussex near her home in Haslemere, Surrey. Her partner, Peter Foster, 35, has been charged with murder. Dc Cooper, 33, who grew up in York, was on maternity leave when she died. A memorial service will be held at Guildford Cathedral next Tuesday.
